This past weekend, my sister and I took on quite the painting challenge. We painted one of the walls in her room chevron. It’s all the rage right now and everyone seems to be doing it, so we thought it should be easy enough. Well I can tell you right now, it definitely wasn’t a breeze, but it wasn’t all that difficult. Just takes time and a little patience. Luckily, we had an unlimited amount of both. All we needed was a few pieces of cardboard, chalk, paint, paint rollers, paint brushes and painters tape.
Now let me tell you about our taping fiasco. We had painters come last week to paint the inside of our house, so we told them to paint the wall white so we’d have a nice base. Turns out, they’d painted this wall barely 24 hours before we wanted to start chalking, taping, & painting. Because of this, we thought we would need the delicate tape so it wouldn’t rip off the fresh paint. We got home from the store with the tape and it must have been from a combination of the chalk and the texture of our walls, but as we started taping, it was literally falling off the wall. So this meant another trip to the store to get the regular tape. This worked a little better…until we ran out 3/4 the way up the wall. We didn’t want to go to the store for a 3rd time so we decided we’d make the delicate tape work. It felt like everything was going wrong and we were extremely worried the paint would seep underneath the delicate tape, but it all turned out okay as you will see.
Overall, it was a lot to take on. It took a lot of patience to make sure everything was lined up and straight, but I would definitely say that the result is well worth the trouble it took to do it, just don’t take the commitment lightly!
Enjoy the rest of your day, let’s paint the world together!
